Hidden Oahu Tour
Oahu Nature Tours offers fun, educational and guided eco-tours that show you the best of Oahu's native animal and plant life. No matter which tour you choose, you'll enjoy spectacular views and have plenty of great photo opportunities. Furthermore, you'll lean more about Hawaii's geology, archeology, mythology and history from your friendly guide. Tour groups are small with no more than 14 people.
Escape the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and go on a journey to the hidden locations on Oahu, a place where your dreams of a tropical island paradise will come true. The first stop on this great excursion is Lanikai, an amazing beach with incredibly white sand that is as fine as powder. In the distance you'll see the two Mokulua Islands, which are a seabird preserve. You might see Wedge-tailed Sheerwaters, Brown Boobies and Black Noddies flying above the emerald green ocean. Traveling north, you'll see the scenic shoreline highway to view Popia Island, Nu'u Pia Pond and Moku o Loe or Coconut Island. Spectacular views abound as you'll drive along the palm tree-lined Kaheohe Bay to the next stop, which is the famous Chinaman's Hat, another offshore island. |
Continuing up the coast, you'll arrive at the magnificent Ka'a'awa Valley and visit an ancient Polynesian village situated beneath the 2,000-foot rugged cliffs. Walking through the valley where Jurassic Park, Godzilla, Mighty Joe Young and 50 First Dates were filmed, you'll experience the peaceful magnificence of this hidden area. You'll also get to see a picturesque flower farm, where many colorful orchid species bloom.
The highlight of the tour is a visit to the 200-acre Moli'i Fishpond, where native Hawaiians have raised fish for more than 600 years. It is one of the last active fishponds in Hawaii. You'll then board a small boat for a relaxing exploration of this fabulous location. Your guide will tell you the history and mythology of this sacred place and explain aquaculture methods as you slowly cruise along the shore of a secret island.
