Molokini & Keawalai Snorkeling Adventure
This snorkeling excursion will take you to two world-class diving destinations - Molokini and Keawala'i. Molokini is one of the top ten dive site in the world. It's a crescent moon-shaped island formed by a volcanic cinder cone and located 2.5 miles off Maui's south coast. Molokini is a protected marine life park and a safe haven for all kinds of marine life. There's a reef area with excellent viewing up to 150 feet (45 m). Molokini's pristine waters are home to about 250 species of fish - some of which are found nowhere else on Earth. Later on, you'll continue to the serene beauty of Keawala'i along Maui's south shore. This area is known for being the home of many Hawaiian green sea turtles.
This activity includes two meals. The continental breakfast features an assortment of freshly baked bagels and muffins accompanied by cream cheese, butter and jellies, fresh island fruit, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and fruit juices. The all-you-can-eat sub and sandwich buffet includes an assortment of freshly baked breads, a variety of delicious deli meats that include oven-baked turkey, tavern-style ham, seasoned roast beef and Genoa salami, cheddar and provolone cheeses, all-American potato salad, Maui-style potato chips, cookies and a medley of condiments: tomatoes, onions, lettuce, pickles and pepperoncini. For vegetarians, garden burgers are available upon request. Beverages include water, sodas, juices, beer, wine and the infamous P.K. Rum Punch. |
The Boat: The adventure departs daily from Ma'alaea Harbor and is launched off the Prince Kuhio, a 92-foot long luxurious cruise boat. It features a spacious, air-conditioned main cabin, a sundeck and a unique 12-foot bowsprit, which extends over the water for an unusual and thrilling experience. The vessel can carry up to 149 passengers while still being very comfortable. The crew is friendly and professional, with a Coast Guard certified caption, first mate and engineer. All snorkeling equipment and flotation devices will be provided. Because Molokini can get a bit crowded in the later morning and around noon, the Prince Kuhio departs early enough so that it is one of the first vessels to arrive at this prime snorkeling spot. |

more than just snorkeling

We really enjoyed this trip. The staff on the boat were really amazing, spending time with nervous snorkelers and doing everything to make the trip fun. We did 'snuba' a cross between snorkeling and scuba diving, where you can go down to a depth of 20 feet and you don't need any training. The air canisters are floating on a raft as opposed to attached to your body. It was the most amazing thing to have tried, short of scuba itself. The instructor was brilliant, really patient and funny and made you feel confident even if you weren't! I would highly recommend this activity. |

It was great to see sea turtles, butterfly and pufferfish living in this pristine, warm ocean paradise.

The remains of an extinct volcano located undersea and about two and a half miles off the coast of Maui is the home of over 250 different species of fish, birds and various forms of marine life. The crater forms an uninhabited islet that protects swimmers and introductory divers as well as the surrounding marine sanctuary from winds and provides excellent shelter for sea exploration.
Taking the guided tour out to Molokini was my first time snorkeling and I loved it. Since then I have been snorkeling elsewhere and did not see half as many fish as I saw swimming in the volanic remains of Molokini that are over 10,000 years old. Tropical fish of all shapes and colors swimming next to and below you with bright beautiful coral surrounding them that really stands out in the crystal clear water. Viewing of aquatic life takes place at different depths since the reef is made up of many relatively shallow points. |
