This is a great horseback ride through Waipi'o Valley, which boasts lush jungle trails, crystal clear streams and magnificent waterfalls. You'll enjoy views of breathtaking natural scenery that makes Waipi'o Valley so amazing to experience on horseback!

Waipio Valley Horseback Riding Adventure

This horseback riding tour leads you through Waipi'o Valley, the "Valley of the Kings," which boasts a variety of historical and spiritual places to discover, experience and appreciate. The tour leads through a lush tropical and truly unspoiled island paradise of jungle trails, taro fields, crystalline freshwater streams and spectacular waterfalls. You'll enjoy stunning views all along the way.

You'll be accompanied by experienced paniolos, the Hawaiian cowboys, who will give you expert instructions, point out all the interesting sights along the way and answer any questions you might have. All horses are well-trained, which makes for superb riding conditions, maximum safety for beginners and maximum flexibility for expert riders. They offer open range riding, so you can feel absolutely free and don't need to follow a trail nose to tail. Opportunities for trotting and cantering are available as well.

You can choose between two tours. The 2.5-Hour Morning Ride starts at 9:30 am and the 2.5-Hour Afternoon Ride starts at 1 pm. They take place from Monday through Saturday. All groups are relatively small, so make your reservation early.

Tip - this popular tour fills up fast, we recommend putting in your reservation at least 1 week prior. Please include body weights for all riders in the "Comments" field.

The horses were all great, seasoned trail horses. The two guides did their best to match horse to rider. Also, both guides were very friendly, spreading themselves back and forth among the riders, joking and teasing, making all of us feel very comfortable. One of the guides, in particular, grew up in the valley, and he gave us a history of the area. We stopped several times at Kodak moment locations for some great photo ops. We also rode through and up the, at times, two feet deep river that runs from the mountains (makao?) to the ocean.

I made the ride by myself and had the best time. I was totally included in the ride and had a lot of fun. It was not your regular nose to tail ride more liked a group of friends out together, we were able to ride side by side or change positions during the ride and it was totally awesome. The trailriders were a lot of fun and full of info. I will do it again.

I wasn't sure what to expect form the horseback riding adventure because I had never been on a horse before, and Waipio Valley isn't exactly an open field. The tour guide was funny, friendly and very helpful. The assistant guide was really sweet too...she hung behind to chat with me because my horse liked to be in the back (and my boyfriend's horse just had to be in the front). The scenery of the valley was truly amazing. My pictures look like post cards!

I would definitely recommend the Waipio Valley Horseback Riding Adventure to anyone. I can't imagine not having a great time in such a beautiful setting with such friendly guides.

Keone and his sidekick were outstanding. We will certainly recommend this activity to others.
Keone is the epitome of making an event fun. He is so genuine and personable, I felt like he was my brother.
