Atlantis Submarine Kona Tour
Want to explore the ocean without heavy scuba equipment? Then this tour is for you. Come aboard the Atlantis, a real 48-passenger submarine for an adventure of a lifetime. You’ll see the same spectacular underwater world that scuba divers see, but without having to get wet, which makes this also a great activity for the whole family.
Allow Atlantis Submarines to show you the other 96% of Kona you can't see any other way. Treat yourself to Kona's most beautiful and captivating scenery, habitats and isolated treasures. On this tour, you’ll get an up-close look at Hawaii’s ocean floor in depths of up to 100 feet (30 m). You'll dive down into another version of paradise – one hidden even from the people of Hawaii for centuries. Down there, you will discover an 18,000-year-old, 25-acre fringing coral reef, which boasts a vibrant ecosystem. You’ll also view spectacular coral formations in all colors of the rainbow and see an abundance of tropical fish. You’re sure to have a blast!
All Atlantis submarines are U.S. Coast Guard approved and equipped with stabilizers for a smooth, enjoyable ride. They are also air-conditioned and fully pressurized so that everyone will feel perfectly comfortable during the dive. Another great feature of the sub is that everyone gets the best seat in the house because all seats are front-row seats. Each is positioned in front of a large view port so that you’ll get a clear and unobstructed view of the underwater world. Audio headset narrations in Japanese are available. |
Atlantis submarine dives are safe, educational and most of all fun. They have even been featured on National Geographic specials. So if you haven't been to the bottom of the ocean before, a submarine dive is a must do! This great tour departs several times a day from the pier in Kailua-Kona. You first check in at the Atlantis Submarine ticket office on Ali’i Drive located across from the Kailua-Kona pier. Then you’ll board the Kalia, a shuttle boat, for a ten-minute ride to the dive site. The excursion includes a full safety briefing as well as the opportunity to view the Kona coastline from the ocean. You’ll then be treated to the sight of your submarine surfacing from the deep, ready to take you on board!
The Route: Board the Kalia for a 10-minute boat ride do the Atlantis dive site 0-76 ft.: Dive down and view some coral reefs that grow on a lava flow foundation 40-50 ft.: See exotic fish feed in delicate finger coral 50-60 ft.: View scattered remains of ancient lava formations 60-70 ft.: Get an up-close look at various species of fish |
