Atlantis Submarine Maui Tour
The biggest attraction on Maui is 130 feet (40 m) below sea level. Atlantis Submarines is your ticket to see it. Take part in this once-in-a-lifetime undersea adventure in an Atlantis submarine, the world's first and most technologically advanced passenger submarine. You will journey into a spectacular blue world more than 130 feet below the surface in spacious air-conditioned comfort. You’ll see the same spectacular underwater world that scuba divers see, but without having to get wet, which makes this also a great activity for the whole family.
To enhance its sub tour experience and help improve the marine environment, Atlantis embarked on creating an artificial reef in December 2005 by sinking the Carthaginian replica whaling ship. Artificial reefs have a proven track record of ecological benefits. The sunken Carthaginian, which needed major repairs and would have been scuttled at sea otherwise, is anchored to a sandy bottom at a depth of 95 feet (29 m) that is devoid of coral reef. The resulting artificial reef will develop into a self-sustaining habitat for indigenous fish, coral and other marine life. So come aboard the Atlantis to witness the new resting home of the Carthaginian.
All Atlantis submarines are U.S. Coast Guard approved and equipped with stabilizers for a smooth, enjoyable ride. They are also air-conditioned and fully pressurized so that everyone will feel perfectly comfortable during the dive. And the best thing is that everyone gets the best seat in the house because all seats are front-row seats. Each is positioned in front of a large view port so that you’ll get a clear and unobstructed view of the underwater world. Audio headset narrations in Japanese are available on all tours. |
Atlantis submarine dives are safe, educational and most of all fun. They have even been featured on National Geographic television specials. So if you haven't been to the bottom of the ocean before, a submarine dive is a must do!
The excursion departs several times a day from Lahaina Harbor. First, you’ll board the Holokai, the shuttle vessel. You’ll then be treated to the sight of your submarine surfacing from the deep, ready to take you on board! The excursion includes a full safety briefing. And if you do this trip between December and May (whale season in Hawaii), you are likely to see the majestic Pacific humpback whales on your way to and from the dive site. |
