Big Island Spectacular
Discover both the Big Island's beauty and its volcanic fury. Tour the most geologically active environment on earth - the famous Kilauea Volcano, which has been continuously erupting since 1983. View lava flows and black sand beaches.
Experience the awesome spectacle of Madame Pele's flowing lava and volcanic badlands, then explore the lush rainforests of the Hamakua Coast. The towering sea cliffs open into the dramatically deep and meandering valleys of the Kohala Mountains. Beautiful waterfalls cascade thousands of feet into the rainforest below and remnants of ancient Hawaiian settlements are still visible. This is the perfect finish to the ultimate Big Island adventure. This tour was voted #1 by The Travel Channel as the "World's Best Helicopter Thrill." |

Great Job

I would say that they did what they said they would do and more ... outstanding service! I called Big Kahuna hours before we wanted to go and they set us up with just what we wanted. The gal on the phone was pleasant and the rates were the best. |

Don’t be offended when they ask the weights of everyone in your party! They need to pre-plan to help balance the aircraft. Don’t lie about the weight either, because they will have you stand on a scale! |

What scenery!

The Big Island is amazing, with waterfalls, lush greenery, and beautiful tropical foliage. As we soared over the mountaintops and peered down into the canyon, our pilot talked about the scenery around us. We had two cameras going simultaneously, trying to catch everything. There were literally hundreds of tiny waterfalls trickling down the sides of the mountains. Some areas near the waterfall were misty and occasionally we could see a rainbow. We flew out over the ocean a pretty good distance before turning around for a magnificent view of the coastline. The ocean was so blue and the craggy mountains along the coastline were covered in greenery. We flew close enough to see the details of the trees and crevices on the mountains. They are simply incredible with their uniquely craggy shapes. I expected to see a dinosaur appear any minute.
I have many wonderful pictures of this coastline and even more wonderful memories that will live with me forever. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to really see this beautiful island. |

A great flight but kinda cramped.

The flight turned out to be surprisingly spectacular. Surprising for me perhaps because I grew up on the Big Island, but I had never seen it like this. The tour flies north past Waikoloa and Kawaihae and flies over and into the Waimanu Valley. Part of what makes this tour so dramatic is flying over the cliffs of these valleys, then deep down into them, getting close up next to the numerous waterfalls that cascade all around you down the valley walls. You'll find yourself inadvertently holding your breath several times throughout this thrilling tour.
After the tour, seeing a brochure, I was surprised the picture of the A-Star interior appears to be so roomy and spacious, it's hard to believe that it's the same helicopter. There is another type of helicopter they use for this same tour that the brochure describes as ultra spacious, called the ECO-Star, which is apparently quieter as well as more comfortable. I would have chosen the other helicopter and may have had a better experience. |
