Group Surfing Lesson
Kauai is a wonderful place for surfing! There are incredible breaks off the beautiful beach at Hanalei Bay. The is compared to Waikiki for wonderful conditions for beginning surfers - sandy bottom, long rides, not too far from shore, consistent warm temperatures all year long.
The surf on the North Shore of Kauai is perfect for surfing lessons. In Hawaii, there are wave reports every day, giving information on the current wave conditions. 98.5 % of the time the waves perfect for lessons at some place along Hanalei Bay. During rare flat or stormy conditions, there are other areas a close drive away where surfing lessons can be taken.
Hawaiian Surfing Adventures has a unique system for surfing instruction that includes top quality equipment and teaching you the basic knowledge of surfing before you go out in the ocean. |
Surfing lessons are taught by Mitchell Alapa, a native Hawaiian, who has dedicated his life to surfing. As our professional surf instructor, Mitchell is highly qualified to instruct you in all aspects of the sport. They have 10 other highly qualified instructors as well.
Each session with Hawaiian Surfing Adventures is 2 hours in length - almost twice as long as others. Enjoy small group lessons of 4 or less students per instructor! Plus, students may use the boards free of charge with same day lessons. To date, they have a perfect record - all students have surfed successfully! |

Activity Highlights:- 2 hour surf lesson
- Small groups of 4 or less students per instructor
- Top of the line surfboards and leashes, custom rash guard shirts
- Water safety trained instructor(s) that are from Kauai and that are accomplished surfers.
- Hawaiian Surfing Adventures has 11 lifeguard water safety licensed instructors.

From Lihue, take the Kuhio Highway toward Princeville. Drive past the Princeville Airport and the Princeville Golf Club. The Kuhio Highway will descend thru a switchback from 300 feet down to sea level, and then head directly toward Hanalei Bay. After the switchback, look for Aku Road on your right. Take Aku road to the junction with Weke Road (close to the beach). Turn right on Weke Road and continue for 1/2 mile to the Hanalei pier. Park near the pier and walk up the beach toward the river. Check in at the "Surf Lessons" sign.
Look for the YELLOW shirts on the beach!
It takes approx. 1 hour from Lihue to Hanalei.
