Kiteboarding Intro Lesson

This lesson is a perfect way to experience Kiteboarding! This lesson gives an introduction to the sport of kiteboarding, covering the core skills. Wind direction and site selection, essential kite flying skills are taught on land and in the water, including harness technique and board handling skills. This lesson covers all the basic safety protocols, safety systems and self rescue procedures, launching, landing and waterstart technique.

Action Sports Maui supplies a range of kites sizes and a selection of board sizes and styles to accelerate the learning curve. With their progressive techniques, you will be in the water within 30 minutes, learning on-water kite handling. This lesson is the first installment in their longer training courses, so you can decide if you want to upgrade at any time. No previous experience is required. Students with previous watersports experience and board skills will learn even faster because our one-to-one instructor ratio ensures that you will learn at your own pace.

The lesson is available 7 days a week, and two times a day – from 10:30 am and 2:00 pm.

WARNING: Kiteboarding is an extreme sport that requires a high degree of water confidence and a good understanding of kite flying skills. The lightweight foils are extremely powerful and often overwhelm the novice and may place them in dangerous situations that can also endanger onlookers and innocent bystanders. A responsible attitude and Kiteboarding Training is essential for a safe entry into this sport.

Driving Directions

Drive to the Kahului Airport and go past the terminal. When the road curves left, stay in the right lane, then turn right at the "Rental Car Return" sign. Drive all the way through until you reach the "Stop" sign. Turn LEFT at the stop sign, drive along Amala Place, until you cross a small bridge, then turn right into the dirt parking lot, with the low green fence. Meet at the large Action Sports Maui van (with the flag).
