Natural Highlights of Oahu

Oahu Nature Tours offers fun, educational and guided eco-tours that show you the best of Oahu's native animal and plant life. No matter which tour you choose, you'll enjoy spectacular views and have plenty of great photo opportunities. Furthermore, you'll lean more about Hawaii's geology, archeology, mythology and history from your friendly guide. Tour groups are small with no more than 14 people.

On this five-hour long tour, you'll see all of Oahu's most interesting natural attractions. Between points of interest, you'll travel around in a comfortable, well-appointed touring van. The first stop is the Paiko Lagoon Wildlife Sanctuary, an ideal place to observe native wetland bird species. Next up is the world-famous Hanauma Bay, a great spot for snorkeling. Then you'll see the Kahauloa tuff cone located along the island's stunning southeast volcanic coastline.

The Halona Cove is the next stop, where you might see green sea turtles and humpback whales. Also, there is a blow-hole that shoots columns of water into the sky. After stopping at Makapu'u lookout featuring spectacular panoramic views of offshore islands, you'll visit colorful tide pools and the 25,000-year-old Kaupo lava flow. Your professional nature guide will point out rare species of native Hawaiian coastal plants and colorful sea birds, including Red-footed Boobies, Great Frigate birds and Red-tailed Tropic Birds.

Later on, just past "Robin's Nest," where Magnum P.I. was filmed, you'll stop for a walk on Oahu's longest sandy beach - Waimanalo Bay. The next stop is the Enchanted Lake Bird Sanctuary, one of the best bird-watching locations on the island. Then you'll travel to the ancient Hawaiian Temple, Ulupou Heiau, to see one of the best preserved archaeological sites on Oahu. You'll also learn about many important Polynesian plants. At the world-famous Pali Lookout, which Mark Twain described as one of the most beautiful views on Earth, you'll see the aquamarine waters of Kaneohe Bay and the rugged 2,000-foot vertical cliffs of the majestic Koolau Mountain Range.

Very Educational & Fun...

Two thumbs up! Our tour guide was very professional and knowledgeable about the nature habitats of Hawaii. This tour is certainly more oriented to education than just a "look around". We learned so much about Hawaiian botany and zoology, and topographical history.

The view from the Pali Overlook was breath taking, and we saw almost all of the East Coast of Oahu from there. Overall it was really fun, but the best part is we came away from it having a much better knowledge of nature in Hawaii.
