Star Whale Watching Cruise
Pacific Humpback whales are truly amazing creatures. Every year in December, they swim the thousands of miles from Alaska to Hawaii to mate and raise their young in Hawaii's warm waters. Now you'll be able to see them up close on this great whale watching cruise. Watch how they glide gently through the water, blow water in the air and lift their colossal bodies out of the water to breathe. It's an adventure you'll always remember. Just keep in mind that this is a seasonal cruise. It takes place during Hawaii's whale season only (winter months).
Besides seeing these gentle giants, there are plenty of other interesting whale-themed and cultural activities. You'll learn more about these mammals from a crew of naturalists, educational whale narration and a video presentation. And the best thing is that whale sightings are guaranteed! You can also choose to take part in cultural activities, such as flower lei making, fish feeding, coconut frond weaving and ukulele and hula lessons. |
Since 1957, Paradise Cruises Ltd. has been Hawaii's premier cruise line for millions of island guests and kamaaina (locals) alike. Its premier cruise ship, the Star of Honolulu, is specially designed for Hawaiian waters. You will see everything from this four-deck, 1,500-passenger vessel, which is equipped with innovative watts-type stabilizers for a smooth ride. Enjoy panoramic wrap-around decks and a 60-foot-high observation deck for the best views! The award-winning Star is also A.D.A. (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant and features two elevators and wheelchair accessible ramps.
You can choose between two packages - standard and deluxe. The standard package includes all the above-mentioned whale-themed and cultural activities. Or choose the deluxe package, which adds on a delicious buffet lunch featuring Hawaiian delicacies, such as island-style roast beef, huli huli chicken, mahi mahi (island fish), fresh tropical fruits, haupia (coconut pudding) and more. |

Whale Watching Cruise
Reviewer: Big Al (Green Bay, USA) April 23, 2008

We enjoyed the Star of Honolulu whale trip, everything was wonderful, the only reason I would rate a 4 instead of a 5 is that we didn't see any whales, not the crew's fault!! The day before they said they had seen over 50 whales breeching out of the water,,,we were just one day late. They were very accommodating on giving us a rain check to try again, but we got a wonderful cruise and great views of the island, so all and all, a good time and still worth it! |

The ship, the personnel, and the entertainment were fantastic. The cruise was beautiful. The time on the ship was most relaxing and the photo opportunities were priceless. Getting to sea Diamond Head from ocean side view! |

Very Good Cruise

We've taken lunch cruises at several locations in the US, and this rates up there with the best (even without the whales -- too late in the season -- but we were offered a free cruise since no whales were sighted). Hard to beat! |

Star Whale Watching Cruise Oahu Review
Reviewer: Mikey (Honolulu, USA) February 18, 2007

On Jan 11, 2007, we were a party of 4 on this cruise. I've been on this boat before for other reasons but this was my frist time being on it to whale watch. It is a large and stable ride. I picked the non-lunch package as I wanted to spend as much time on the top desk shooting photos.
We saw half a dozen whales surface but they stayed a far distance. The height of the top desk helped spot them easily but it was tough job running from bow and stern, port and starboard. Perhaps a small boat might be better for viewing whales which are on the move constantly. |

Very Entertaining!

This tour was highly educational and entertaining in terms of the onboard activities provided such as lei-making, hula dancing lessons, and ukulele lessons. The view of Oahu from the ocean is fabulous while the ship is leaving the port and cruising along the offshore waters. Particularly thrilling was when we got to see the whales, with their heads sticking out of the ocean and swimming freely among the waves. My family had a lot fun on this tour, and we made three leis for each one of us as the ship was heading back to port. I would highly recommend this tour to my friends. |
