Valley of the Rainbows
Oahu Nature Tours offers fun, educational and guided eco-tours that show you the best of Oahu's native animal and plant life. No matter which tour you choose, you'll enjoy spectacular views and have plenty of great photo opportunities. Furthermore, you'll lean more about Hawaii's geology, archeology, mythology and history from your friendly guide. Tour groups are small with no more than 14 people.
This excursion will take you into the lush rain forest located deep within the magnificent Valley of the Rainbows. Nestled below towering jungle trees and surrounded by seven waterfalls, on of the world's greatest botanical gardens, the Lyon Arboretum awaits you.
As you'll explore the 200-acre garden, colorful blossoms of bromeliads, hibiscus and orchids surround you while tropical birds sing nearby. This area is home to more than 5.000 species of plants that bathe in the mists produced by more than 185 inches of rainfall each year. |
Afterward, you'll visit the Chinese Great Ancestors Mound, which is perched high on a grass covered hill below Puu Pia. Traveling through the historic valley, you'll learn more about the interesting local history and mythology. You'll then visit Puu Uala-kaa, which is located at 1,048 feet above Waikiki.
From up here, you'll have amazing 180 degree views of Oahu's southeast coastline and sometimes of a shimmering double rainbow arching across the Valleys of the Rainbows far below.

It is paradise on earth, the Valley of the Rainbows. I would love to visit there time and again. The garden was spectacular. |
